Signs and Pavement Markings:
Responsibilities include the installation, maintenance and replacement of street signs and the replacement of regulatory signs and pavement markings.

Street Repair and Maintenance:
Please see the "FY-08 Road Maintenance Summary " Link on this page for more information.

Street Cleaning:
The Highway Division cleans streets, walks and municipal parking lots by sweeping and pick up leaves, and any debris to provide safe traffic movement and maintain a desirable environment.  A full sweeping of the town is done each spring.  Please refer to the DPW Home Page for details.

Winter Maintenance:
The Highway Division is responsible  for ensuring safe vehicular and pedestrian access for the public and emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) during the winter season.  Responsibilities include plowing streets, sidewalks, municipal, school and church parking areas.  Sand, salt and calcium chloride are used as deicing agents at the locations.

Maintenance - Storm Drains, Brooks and Catch Basins:
The Highway Division maintains surface drainage, including storm sewers and brooks, in order to provide for the free flow of surface water to minimize flooding, erosion and property damage.  Catch basins are cleaned regularly to minimize standing water and flooding problems throughout the town.  In addition, basins located in problem-prone areas, or at drainage collection points, are checked prior to , or immediately after, storms to prevent flooding and private property damage.
