The Town Clerk’s Office strives to uphold the integrity of the Town’s democratic process, to maintain and preserve our valuable public records, and to act in the best interest of the community by providing efficient, effective, quality customer service.

This webpage may not have the most up-to-date information due to the limited staff available to monitor and/or up-date.  Please bear with us as we try to minimize the impact of our staff cut-backs and offer as much as possible in the way of service to the community.

The Town Clerk serves in the following capacities:

Public Records Officer/Recording Officer
Administers and records all oaths of office
Posts meetings of all governmental bodies
Informs all officials of Open Meeting Law and Conflict of Interest Law
Maintains municipal laws (Town Bylaw)  General Bylaw
Records & Certifies all actions of the Town:
    Town Meeting legislation and appropriations
    Planning Board decisions
    Zoning Board decisions
    Certifies all notes for borrowing
    Records all pole locations approved by Selectmen
Processes new or changed Bylaws to the Attorney General for approval

Chief Election Official
Conducts all town, state and federal elections
Supervises voter registration and absentee balloting
Certifies nomination papers and initiative petitions
Assists voters interested in running for public office
Administers campaign finance laws
Conducts the annual town census and serves as liaison for federal census
Assists the Secretary of the Commonwealth in maintaining the Central Voter Registry

Registrar of Vital Records
Registers all vital events (births, deaths, marriages and adoptions)
     evernts occuring in the town
     events occurring to residents of town, but in another location.
Maintains confidential files for impounded records
